Hereof, can you boot from an M 2 drive?
An M. 2 NVMe drive requires UEFI boot drivers that not every motherboard has. The drive has a driver included in ROM, but that won't be trusted for Secure Boot so you'd have to disable Secure Boot and enable UEFI CSM.
Also, can you boot from PCIE SSD? In the BIOS set the SSD to be the Primary Boot device. Boot to Windows and open the Device Manager for your OS Version. Under Storage Controllers find your device and right click on it and select Update Driver Software. Navigate to where you have saved the latest version and load it.
Keeping this in consideration, can you boot from a NVMe SSD?
To benefit fully from an NVMe SSD, you must be able to boot the operating system from it. That requires BIOS support. Sigh. Most older mainstream BIOSes do not support booting from NVMe and most likely, never will.
Can I install operating system on M 2 SSD?
With the device enabled, you can opt to install Windows or whatever operating system you prefer. M. 2 SSD devices are particularly suited to running operating systems rather than acting as storage for other files.
