I do know that the mac users were having a lot of issues after the June update from EA. That being said, I know you said in the comments that you're sick of windows, but it really is the best (and easiest) way to run Sims 4 (and all the DLC). I do not recommend purchasing a Mac for running this game.

Your MBP is right at the bottom of the minimum requirements to run the game so it's most probably struggling if you've added additional packs to your game and/or CC/Mods. Try lowering your graphics settings to low, enabling laptop mode and making sure nothing else is running on your Mac.
