Simply so, does acetone affect glass?
the acetone wont hurt the glass. it will mess up the tinting, but thats what you're trying to do. since the glass is off the truck i'd probably just lay it down, lay some rags on top of it and drench it in acetone. let it sit and use a razor blade to scrape it off.
Secondly, can you soak glass in acetone? Instead of rubbing alcohol, use acetone (nail polish remover). You'll be amazed. Fill the piece about half way with acetone, add salt for scrubbing action, seal carb/mouthpiece/bowl, and SHAKE for 60sec. You don't want to inhale acetone, and boiling will get all that off the glass.
Also to know, what does acetone react with?
Acetone is a colorless, liquid, organic compound. Acetone reacts with halogens, like iodine, in haloform reactions, which is where a ketone is mixed with a halogen and a base. Here, a ketone (like acetone) is exposed to a base, which removes hydrogen. The ketone then reacts with the halogen.
Is acetone safe on mirrors?
It is best to use it outside where there is plenty of ventilation. I have used acetone for the final rinse of a mirror, it dries quickly and does not leave water spots if done properly. The major safety hazard with acetone is that it burns - really, really well.
